• In our crude distillation unit the hot pumps ( i.e Kerosene, Diesel and AR pump )strainer cleaning takes 8- 24 hrs because to make the pump cool down before draining the liquid. Is there any alternative method to make hot pump strainer cleaning fast ?

  An alternative in these cases are aligning diesel as flushing to the pump aiming to dilute the process fluid (in heavier streams like atmospheric residue) and ensure a quick and controlled cooling process of the pump, normally 12 hours is considered an adequate time interval to deliver the pump to the maintenance team. It's important to remember that excessively high cooling rates can lead to damage to the pump materials leading to cracks and failures which can cause severe process safety accidents.
