Petrofac selected by ADNOC Gas for Habshan Project
Petrofac will continue to build on its role at one of the world’s largest gas processing plants, following the award of a new project by Abu Dhabi based ADNOC Gas.
The contract, awarded to Petrofac Emirates, is valued at over US$330 million and involves the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of a new gas compressor plant at the Habshan Complex in Abu Dhabi.
The third EPC contract awarded to Petrofac at the vast Habshan Complex, this new scope includes the EPC of two gas compressor trains, associated utilities and power systems. The project will support ADNOC Gas to further increase output from the Complex in support of plans to supply pre-conditioned gas to the Ruwais LNG project plant. It is planned for completion in 2028.
Commenting, Chief Operating Officer of Petrofac’s Engineering & Construction division, Elie Lahoud said: “The expansion of our role at the Habshan Complex is testament to the delivery expertise deployed by our team on this and various other projects throughout our long history supporting ADNOC in the UAE. “We look forward to working alongside our client to safely and efficiently deliver our new scope with a continued focus on ensuring the impact of our work extends beyond the project site, through investment in our local workforce and supply chain.”
Present in the UAE since 1991, with operational centres in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, Petrofac has developed a large regional workforce to deliver both local and international projects, while supporting In-Country Value and Emiratisation. In 2023, the Group was awarded both the ADNOC Gas’ managed and operated Estidama Habshan Gas Compressor Plant project and the Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage project at the Habshan Complex, with a combined value of over US$1.3 billion. More than 120 UAE nationals were recruited into Petrofac’s existing team to support the delivery of these projects.
