Ras Laffan Petrochemical award Ethylene storage facilities contract to CTCI Corporation

CTCI Corporation, one of the world’s leading engineering, procurement, and construction companies, announced today that it has won a contract with Ras Laffan Petrochemical for the Qatar RLP Ethylene Storage EPC Project.

This project includes the construction of a 30,000-metric-ton ethylene storage tank and its utilities. The total value of the project is USD 417 million, and the contract period for the storage unit is estimated to be 34 months. For the execution of this project, CTCI is partnering with Samsung E&A as part of the “Samsung E&A CTCI Joint Venture” (SCJV).

The client, Ras Laffan Petrochemicals (RLP) is a joint venture between QatarEnergy and Chevron Phillips Chemical. The scope of the ethylene storage project includes constructing storage facilities and utility infrastructure (U&O) in Ras Laffan Industrial City, located 80 kilometers north of Doha, Qatar’s capital. This project is in the same complex as the RLP Ethylene Project awarded to SCJV in 2023, which is currently under execution. The ethylene storage unit is designed to serve as an adaptable solution, acting as a temporary stopover during plant maintenance and repair periods, as well as in emergencies, while allowing flexible handling of ethylene from both upstream and downstream suppliers.

With CTCI’s extensive experience in petrochemical facility engineering, the company delivered a reliable performance during the RLP Ethylene Project in 2023, earning the trust of RLP, which has now resulted in another project award for this ethylene storage facility. Michael Yang, Chairman of CTCI, said, “We appreciate Ras Laffan Petrochemicals’ continued trust in offering this opportunity to our team. We will continue to deliver high-quality engineering and safety management to ensure the project is completed on time and up to standard.”

By leveraging its strengths in responsive and efficient service, CTCI is well-positioned to successfully execute the project based on the trust of the client and its partnership with Samsung E&A. The SCJV plans to deliver exceptional schedule management for the client by applying innovative strategies in project execution. This includes a pioneering approach to procurement, with key equipment and materials being purchased before the engineering process is finalized. This contract represents another significant milestone in expanding CTCI’s global influence, while reinforcing its promise of being the “Most Reliable” partner for clients. The contract award further strengthens CTCI’s global presence and operations.
