Alfa Laval breaks ground on new facility in Indianapolis

Alfa Laval, a global leader in heat transfer, separation, and fluid handling products, has officially broken ground on a game-changing 324,000-square-foot facility today in the County Line Commerce industrial park. This strategic investment marks a significant milestone in our commitment to enhancing its operations and customer service capabilities in the North American market

The new facility will serve as a cutting-edge operations center, integrating advanced automation technology, and smart systems. It is designed to meet our ambitious 2030 sustainability goals, operating on heat pump technology for heating and cooling, and incorporating heat recovery systems to improve energy efficiency. With a focus on reducing carbon emissions by 95 percent, the building will be powered by renewable energy certificates and is future-proofed for solar energy, making it a model of sustainable industrial design.

Ester Codina, Cluster President of Alfa Laval North America, shared her excitement about the project, saying, “We’re thrilled to be expanding our presence in Indianapolis. Our dedicated teams have put in tremendous effort over the years to enhance Alfa Laval’s operations in the U.S., and this new facility represents a significant milestone in our ongoing dedication to our Energy, Food & Water and Marine business in the country.”

This state-of-the-art facility underscores the company’s relentless pursuit of innovation and operational excellence. Strategically located near major travel routes, the new facility opens up opportunities to efficiently serve our customer base across the United States. This move will facilitate the expansion of our operations and service capacity in our current Greenwood, Indiana location. Expanding our presence in the State of Indiana will allow the creation of new jobs and continue to strengthen our commitment for Food & Water, Energy and Marine business in the United States. With a growing market, this expansion will improve our training capabilities, provide a test facility for separation equipment, and provide continuous development of aftersales solutions to the sustainability challenges of our customers.   Alongside our recent investment in Greer, SC , this strategic development enables us to collaborate more effectively with our customers, driving innovations that redefine efficiency while providing quicker access to repairs, spare parts, and expert support to meet the market's growing demands.

The County Line Commerce industrial park–a 170-acre joint venture between Gershman and Citimark–boasts one of the lowest vacancy rates in the region, at just 1.8 percent. Positioned as a prime logistics and distribution destination, this park is set to be a launchpad for future industry growth.

Ama Amzat, Project Manager at the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the significance of this development, saying, “This groundbreaking event not only represents Alfa Laval’s investment in our community but also showcases the growth potential of Indianapolis as a hub for innovation and industry. We are excited to support this project and welcome the jobs and economic opportunities it will bring.”

Per Sandberg, Alfa Laval's VP Operations, Global Sales, and Service, noted, “The investment and move of the U.S. distribution center to a modern and sustainable logistics facility demonstrates Alfa Laval’s commitment to continue enhancing the customer experience and support future growth in the North American market.”
