RMS to acquire hot gas expander product line from Siemens Energy

Rotating Machinery Services, Inc. (RMS) today announced that an agreement has been reached for the acquisition of the fluid catalyst cracking unit (FCCU) Hot Gas Expander product line from Siemens Energy, Inc.  The transaction is expected to close on February 28, 2023.

This acquisition brings the intellectual property, inventory, and associated tooling of the FCCU Expander product line under the RMS umbrella. Customers will receive world-class support at RMS’s portfolio of three US-based ISO9001:2015 certified service centers augmented by a network of global regional partners.

“This acquisition further solidifies RMS’s position as the OEM service provider for the global installed base of FCCU Hot Gas Expanders”, said John Bartos, CEO of RMS.  “Dating back to the inception of CONMEC in 1998, RMS’s legacy brand of multi-OEM turbomachinery services, we have been continuously adding to our fleet of served machines.  We have been actively servicing and rerating expanders [for more than two decades] and look forward to introducing new customers to RMS’s extensive engineering and service capabilities.”

Don Shafer, Director of FCC Expander Engineering at RMS has dedicated his career to serving (FCCU) Hot Gas Expander customers and looks forward to continuing this unparalleled level of engineering excellence.  According to Don, “(FCCU) Hot Gas Expanders require specialized knowledge and experience to properly support. RMS’s depth of knowledge dates back to the early days of CONMEC and continues today as we leverage advanced engineering tools to improve (FCCU) Hot Gas Expander reliability and performance.
