Brooge appoints MUC for Fujairah refinery design and oil terminal FEED study
Brooge Energy has appointed MUC Oil & Gas to complete the basic design for a 180,000 barrels a day (b/d) refinery and undertake a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) study for its planned Phase III oil storage terminal in Fujairah.
In a statement issued yesterday (22 April|), Brooge said that the studies, which will take about three months, will ‘develop all the necessary technical definition, cost and schedule estimates for the proposed Phase III facility’.
When the Phase III facility is completed it could add an additional storage capacity of between 2.1 million cubic metres (cbm) and 3.5 million cbm for fuel oil, clean products and crude oil.
‘This is a major milestone in the development of the project,’ said Nicolaas L. Paardenkooper, CEO of Brooge Energy and Brooge Petroleum and Gas Investment Co. (BPGIC). ‘MUC is the same technical advisor that designed the facilities for our Phase I and Phase II terminals and we are pleased to partner with them again to advance our plans to develop our Phase III facility, using the same award-winning technology, technical features and tank diversification as used in Phase I and Phase II. We believe this expansion would, upon completion, make us the largest independent oil storage and service provider in Fujairah.’
Brooge first announced its plans for the new Fujairah refinery in May 2019 – although at that stage reports indicated that the refinery would have a 250,000 b/d capacity.
