New Emerson facility in Germany to help customers achieve operational excellence
Langenfeld office showcases automation technology innovations that harness the power of the Industrial Internet of Things to transform business performance in an Industry 4.0 environment
Emerson Automation Solutions, a leading global provider of industrial automation technology and services, has opened its new office in Langenfeld, Germany, which showcases the latest automation technology that can help manufacturers and process companies achieve operational excellence through a programme Emerson calls Operational Certainty™.
Operational Certainty is an innovative technology and engineering-based programme launched by Emerson to help industrial companies achieve Top Quartile performance - defined as achieving operations and capital performance in the top 25 percent of peer companies. The new Langenfeld office provides Emerson customers with access to a range of testing, training and demonstration facilities, giving them first-hand experience of innovative Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technology that can improve their operational performance and put them on the path to achieving Top Quartile status.
The new Langenfeld office’s education and training facilities enable customers to gain experience with Emerson’s control and safety systems and measurement and control devices, showing them how this technology can help them run their operations more safely, reliably and efficiently. A demonstration centre enables customers to explore new ways of managing remote operations and enabling easier collaboration with experts located anywhere in the world. It also allows customers to observe aspects of Emerson’s Plantweb™ digital ecosystem - a scalable portfolio of hardware, software, intelligent devices and services, which provides the technology foundation for companies to securely implement IIoT applications. The facility also includes a dedicated area for performing factory acceptance testing of control and safety systems.
“Moving into this large, modern facility gives us greater ability to demonstrate how the latest automation technology and engineering services can help our customers to achieve operational excellence,” said Andreas Fuchs, general manager, Germany, Emerson Automation Solutions. “The new office provides significant improvements in terms of space, functionality, location and modernity for our employees compared to the facility in Haan which it has replaced.”
The new 5,500m2 office will be home to around 270 employees. Its opening marks 50 years since Emerson first established a presence in Germany, and complements the existing facilities at Hasselroth, Wessling, Gronau, Selmsdorf, Willich, Dietzenbach and Ölbronn-Dürr.
“We are proud of our achievements in Germany over the past half-century, and as our latest technologies now begin to unlock the vast potential of Industry 4.0, we look forward to exciting opportunities ahead of us to meet customers’ needs,” said Fuchs. “This new office underlines our commitment to striving for constant improvement in the support we offer our customers, enabling them to enhance the skills of their workforce and to take full advantage of the technologies and solutions we can offer them.”
