Danos contract for new petrochemical processing plant
Danos has been selected to provide materials management services for the construction of a new petrochemical processing plant in the Northeastern U.S.
Under the contract, construction materials required for the facility will ship to Danos’ integrated services complex in Amelia, La. Danos will store and provide preservation and maintenance for these items until needed, and then will transport them to the project site via truck and inland waterway.
Because the company’s Amelia complex is an officially recognized Foreign Trade Zone, Danos can offer its customers a duty-free storage and staging location for materials imported from abroad.
“We’re always looking for ways to solve big challenges for our clients,” said Mark Danos, vice president of project services. “In this case, our materials management experience and our facility’s tax-free status give us the opportunity to support a major project like this one.”
Danos’ materials management services include short- and long-term storage, central receiving, surplus management, procurement, vessel moorage and account management. The Amelia complex features 367.5 acres of secured space, including more than 800,000 square feet of covered area, and waterfront access.
The Amelia complex will receive construction materials from around the world and act as a storage house, managing components until needed. Though the new petrochemical facility site is landlocked, its riverfront location is reachable from Louisiana via inland waterways. Main construction is expected to begin by the end of this year.
