Honeywell to help EagleClaw Midstream recover valuable NGLs using UOP Russell technology
Honeywell UOP announced today that it will it will provide a modular Honeywell UOP Russell cryogenic gas processing plant to help EagleClaw Midstream Ventures recover valuable natural gas liquids (NGLs) in the Permian Basin. Midland, Texas-based EagleClaw is focused on developing midstream infrastructure opportunities in the Permian Basin of West Texas and Southeast New Mexico.
The skid-mounted modular plant will be shipped via semi-trucks to EagleClaw's East Toyah plant from Honeywell UOP's manufacturing facility in Tulsa, Okla. When it enters operation, the unit is capable of processing 200 MMSCFD of natural gas to extract NGLs.
"Customers such as EagleClaw are building new capacity in response to demand for NGLs, which are used as fuel additives and petrochemical feedstocks," said John Gugel, vice president and general manager for Honeywell UOP's Gas Processing and Hydrogen business. "Because this unit is shop-fabricated and shipped as a modular system, it benefits from standardized design and construction techniques that ensure fast project completion and highly reliable performance."
Modular gas processing plants allow midstream gas companies to expand incrementally as feed volumes increase over time using parallel process trains, and to upgrade facilities with additional process capabilities or to adapt to changing feed stocks and product slates.
"Our goal is to stay a step ahead of our customers' processing needs and provide the optionality they need to move hydrocarbons to the best possible markets," said EagleClaw President and CEO Bob Milam.
Honeywell UOP Russell equipment is designed to make both the natural gas stream producer and the midstream service provider highly competitive. Today, more than 100 Honeywell UOP Russell modular cryogenic units are in operation in North America.
Honeywell UOP's pre-engineered modular equipment can be shipped easily to remote locations. Modules fit together easily and efficiently, significantly reducing construction time and expense, and enhancing reliability after start-up. This enables customers to more quickly begin processing gas and earning revenue. The standardized modular approach helps drive greater ease of operation for the customer due to common parts, skid and installation layouts, and spares that simplify training, operations and maintenance.
Natural gas liquids include ethane, propane, butanes and higher molecular weight hydrocarbons commonly found in natural gas streams. The components of NGLs can be used for heating or to manufacture plastics, chemicals and blending components that raise the octane level of transportation fuels.
In addition to modular gas processing units, Honeywell UOP provides a wide range of modular solutions for refining, including crude distillation units, saturated gas plants, naphtha and distillate hydrotreaters, and isomerization, Merox™ and CCR and fixed-bed Platforming™ units. This modular technology delivery affords quick construction in challenging environments and consistently high quality control. Honeywell UOP has delivered more than 1,400 fully-engineered and pre-fabricated modular process units to customers around the world.
