WorleyParsons lands PMC project for Assiut refinery
WorleyParsons is pleased to announce that it received last week a Letter of Award from a new customer, Assiut Oil Refining Company (ASORC), a subsidiary of the main NOC Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation Assiut refinery in Egypt.
The contract sees WorleyParsons establishing a significant new customer relationship with one of Egypt’s main downstream operators while building on its strength in delivering outstanding PMC services in the Middle East region.
The project will run in two phases over the next 4 years: phase A will cover the development of the EPC tender package and review and evaluation of the EPC bids while phase B will involve management and supervision of the EPC contractors at the EPC contractor home office during the design and procurement stages and on site in Assiut during the construction stage.
The Assiut refinery was established in 1984 to meet the Upper Egypt region’s needs for petroleum products. The new project will result in the building of a new Naphtha complex [Naphtha Hydrotreater Unit (NHT), a CCR Reforming unit and an Isomerization Unit] that will provide high octane gasoline and different grades of gasoline. The plant provides a major share of neighboring provinces’ demand for petroleum products and derivatives.
“We are delighted that ASORC has selected us to work on this project which will help support Egypt’s demands for petroleum products. We look forward to its successful delivery and completion,” commented Krish Iyer, Location Director UAE, Qatar, Egypt and Iraq.
