Metso's advanced valve solutions selected for Barauni refinery's capacity expansion
Metso will supply special Neles® valves for a delayed coker unit in the Barauni refinery's capacity expansion in India. The refinery is operated by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. The delayed coking process is one of the most demanding sub-processes in oil refining, and it sets especially high requirements for valve reliability and tightness.
Metso will supply the complete package of valves for the critical specialty valve system, including special Neles valves in Pressure Class 900, ball valves ranging from 2"-20" and a technologically advanced 4-way switching valve. Metso's scope also includes a programmable logic controller that continuously controls the devices and control panels. The PLC and control panels will be provided by an Indian original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
"Continuous operation is important for profitable delayed coking. We are glad that the customer trusts our knowledge in their process needs. With Metso's valve solutions, the customer is able to lower their life-cycle costs and can extend the overhaul intervals. Our modern service center and our experienced service professionals ensure optimized maintenance activities for the customer," says Vinay Pradhan, Director, Flow Control, India Metso
The order is included in the second-quarter 2015 orders received by Metso. The value of the order will not be disclosed.
Metso holds a strong position as a technology supplier for the delayed coking process, particularly in North America. Recently, Metso has also delivered its valves for the delayed coking process for Abu Dhabi Oil Refinery's (TAKREER) plant and Sino-Venezuela's Guangdong Petrochemical Company plant in China.
