New GE corrosion inhibitor protects crude oil and gas pipelines
GE today introduced a new corrosion inhibitor to help protect crude oil and gas pipelines against the corrosive nature of acid gases.
GE’s new hydrocarbon-soluble corrosion inhibitor is a novel cost-effective chemistry that protects against corrosion in a wide variety of operating conditions including sweet, sour, wet and dry gases. Using locally sourced solvents leading to improved logistics and shorter lead times, the GE ProSolv* Corrosion Inhibitor is applicable in upstream and downstream process streams. It is compatible with injection packages’ most commonly used metallurgies and is safe to handle and store in hot climates.
The ProSolv Corrosion Inhibitor chemistry was created to protect crude oil and gas pipeline assets, reduce operating costs, increase operating efficiency and provide safe and environmentally acceptable conditions.
GE is a leader in the oil and gas, refining and hydrocarbon processing industries, helping to minimize corrosion, reduce fouling, save energy, reuse water and minimize downtime.
“GE continues to push ahead to develop unique oilfield production chemical solutions. We develop chemistries that address major oil and gas industry concerns such as asset integrity and production optimization. The new GE ProSolv Corrosion Inhibitor is our newest chemistry for protection against corrosion while maximizing throughput and production efficiency,” said Kevin Cassidy, chemical and monitoring solutions general manager—water and process technologies for GE Power & Water.
