MAN Diesel & Turbo standardises on AVEVA software for Integrated Engineering & Design
AVEVA announced today that MAN Diesel & Turbo has successfully completed the implementation of AVEVA’s Integrated Engineering & Design solutions. The implementation, which started in late 2012, followed a competitive bid process and comprised a range of products including AVEVA PDMS
This implementation offers a fully integrated solution that enables the standardisation of 2D and 3D engineering applications across all disciplines within MAN Diesel & Turbo’s Power Plant business unit. AVEVA’s Integrated Engineering & Design approach helps companies like MAN Diesel & Turbo to achieve shorter schedules and lower project costs, which substantially increases their competitive advantage. MAN Diesel & Turbo has implemented the products simultaneously in India and Germany.
'We launched an internal project called PIPE, which stands for Programme for Integrated Power Engineering, to target the optimisation of our engineering processes,' said Michael Franke, Head of Power Engineering, MAN Diesel & Turbo. 'This programme addresses a number of market challenges, including the need to remain competitive through clearly defined, measurable and integrated processes across basic and detailed engineering. The engineering applications we were using had not kept pace with our changing needs so we were pleased to see that AVEVA could offer a practical and scalable suite of integrated products. The software will help us to cut project times and enable us to achieve substantial cost savings on our initial deployments.'
