Solomon associates advance understanding with the introduction of Solomon insights

Solomon Associates, the leading performance improvement company for the global energy industry, has introduced its Solomon Insights program, a bimonthly series of short presentations summarizing key findings from in-depth analyses of the refining industry. Michael Hileman, a vice president at Solomon, narrates the series.
 
Solomon Insights helps advance the understanding of the refining industry through the analysis of our proprietary worldwide study databases, said Hileman. To bring the benefits of this analysis to our clients, we are creating short video presentations that highlight the key findings.”
 
The first Solomon Insights video looks at the world’s best refineries to better understand the characteristics of the top performers around the world. Hileman discusses common differences and similarities among top refineries and average performers, including size, complexity, and crude type. He demonstrates how performance improvement is achievable.
 
The introductory series of Solomon Insights reveals characteristics of the world’s top refineries gleaned from Solomon’s 2004, 2006, and 2008 Fuels Studies. More than 300 refineries participated in the studies, and five key metrics were examined to determine the resulting data: energy intensity, optional availability, maintenance costs, process utilization, and return on investment.
 
By understanding the level of performance reached by top refineries in the world, you can begin to create a vision for your own operation, said Hileman. Once you know what is possible, performance improvement is inevitable.
