TNK-BP to invest $180M in renovation of water purification plant at Ryazan Oil Refinery by 2016
TNK-BP announces that it will invest $180 mln in the renovation of the water purification facilities at the Ryazan Oil Refinery, which form part of Ryazan’s water supply system.
The modernization project envisages application of the latest biological treatment technologies to ensure that the water meets the highest standards and to significantly reduce RORC’s environmental impact. The regional government has supported TNK-BPs initiative – after completion of the work in 2016 the purification facilities will be transferred to the municipality.
“Developing a mutually beneficial partnership with Ryazan Region, which has been and remains a key region for the Company, is an unconditional priority for TNK-BP. Investing in environmental programmes is an integral part of the Company’s business, and the renovation of the purification facilities at RORC will be a major step forward in preserving the region’s ecological balance and water resources”, said TNK-BP Executive Director German Khan.
The Governor of Ryazan Region, Oleg Kovalev noted: “RORC is one of the most significant contributors to the region’s socio-economic development. It is crucial for us that the refinery develops and modernizes – the Company is investing serious money. For the region this means a supply of high-quality fuel, jobs and decent salaries that are paid on time, an improvement in the environmental situation and large-scale community programmes. TNK-BP is a reliable partner for the region.”
