TNK-BP to spend 670M rubles on modernization of process furnaces at Ryazan refinery in 2012

TNK-BP will spend over 670 million rubles in 2012 on a programme to upgrade the process furnaces at the Ryazan Oil Refinery Company (CJSC RORC is a member of the TNK-BP group of companies). Fifty of the 56 process furnaces included in the programme are to be upgraded by the end of the year.

TNK-BP is systematically implementing a long-term programme of modernization work on all its oil refining assets. Ryazan Refinery is carrying out a set of measures to improve the work of its process furnaces to boost fuel efficiency by multiple times. A multi-tier emergency shutdown system is also being installed on the furnaces, including automatic alarms and cut-off devices, mechanical fuel purification filters and sensors to detect oxygen content and flame failure.

“This project is part of a large-scale plan to equip the plant to the latest international standards”, noted Mikhail Davydov, TNK-BP Senior Vice President, Refining. “It will greatly increase the level of operational safety and also reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere, minimizing the plant’s environmental footprint.”
