Topsøe sets up office in South Africa
This week, Helge Rosenberg, Managing Director of Haldor Topsoe S.A. Pty Ltd. has relocated to South Africa in order to set up a new office in Cape Town. The relocation is a part of the establishment of a subsidiary in Africa and an important strategic step in the process of getting close to the African market. Successful operation in African countries requires local knowledge and dedicated involvement in local communities. “It’s not sufficient to have the best product in the market. In Africa you build your success on relations, mutual understanding and investments in the community,” says Helge Rosenberg.
Since the 1990’ties Topsøe has delivered process technology and catalyst for industrial plants to South Africa. Now, as part of corporate strategy to expand its activities in Africa, Haldor Topsøe is planning also to focus on the emerging markets in West and East Africa.
In Nigeria, oil fields are burning off associated gas which may otherwise be used for production of diesel, fertilizer or other petrochemicals. As the biggest supplier of ammonia plants for fertilizer production, Topsøe sees a sound business potential in transforming the African gas into fertilizer. “Fertilizer is a decisive factor in the important development of the African agricultural sector,” says Helge Rosenberg, Managing Director of Haldor Topsoe S.A. Pty Ltd.
