AFPM calls for keystone XL permit approval

American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers President Charles T. Drevna issued the following statement in response to the filing today by TransCanada for a federal permit to build the Keystone XL pipeline. TransCanada said it will supplement its application with an alternative route in Nebraska once that route is selected.

Drevna said: "The anti-fossil fuels extremists opposed to the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline will look for any reason - no matter how baseless and absurd - to oppose the vital pipeline that would benefit millions of American consumers, create thousands of jobs and increase America's economic and national security. Instead of tailoring his policies to win support and campaign contributions from radical special interests, President Obama should adopt sensible energy policies that will benefit America and the American people. The president should act swiftly in the national interest to approve the Keystone XL pipeline."
