Topsøe signs contract with Russian JSC Acron
Topsoe has signed a contract with the Russian company JSC Acron for the design of a 2,060 MTPD ammonia plant. The plant will be located in Veliky Novgorod, where an ammonia plant was under construction in the late 1980’s. Due to the collapse of the Soviet Union, the construction of the plant was put on hold.
Some years ago, JSC Acron bought the 1,200 MTPD ammonia plant in Manfredonia, Italy designed by Topsoe. All equipment was then transported to Veliky Novgorod.
Now, the Veliky Novgorod plant will be reconstructed. Based on various studies made by Topsoe, JSC Acron has decided to build a 2,060 MTPD ammonia plant based on the reuse of equipment from the two existing plants supplemented by some pieces of new equipment.
Acron expect to have the new ammonia plant in operation by the end of 2014.
"We are very pleased to assist Acron in this unusual project, which will make optimal use of the available resources," says Søren Ipsen, Technology Sales Manager, Marketing and Sales – Synthesis.
