Axens to acquire the Rio Tinto Alcan's Brockville activated alumina business

Axens announces that it has signed an Asset Sale Agreement (ASA) with Canada-based Rio Tinto Alcan regarding the sale by Rio Tinto Alcan of its activated alumina business in Brockville, Ontario, Canada.

“Acquisition of Rio Tinto Alcan's Brockville will complete our activated alumina portfolio in order to help us better serve our customers. The Brockville business will also bring us growth potential for new markets worldwide. Axens is very pleased to welcome on board the Brockville team that have successfully developed this business. ”, said Jean Sentenac, Chairman and CEO of Axens.

The terms of the ASA are confidential. The transaction is expected to close by end-September 2010.
