[#LifeatAxens] Alongside the Association Elles bougent ("They move”), we welcome last week in our our premises 40 3rd-grade girls to sensitize them on scientific careers in the field of #decarbonization and #energytransition Elles Bougent, with which we've been partnering for 8 years, aims to increase gender diversity in industrial and technological companies by raisins awareness among young girls from primary schools and high schools onwards. The girls took part in three roundtable discussions around #renewable fuels, digital and startup technical assistance. They discovered a refinery as well as our digital professions and renewable fuels technologies through digital helmets and virtual tools. Many thanks to the students for their participation and to our Axens sponsors for sharing their careers and enthusiasm and proving there is no glass ceiling for women at Axens! [#Casestudy] In the pursuit of emission reductions and sustainable growth,we offer, through our business lines Heurtey Petrochem Solutions and Nectis - a joint venture between ZPJE and Axens - a flow scheme with advanced technology equipment. For process unit heat integration, traditional shell-and-tube exchangers are replaced by high-efficiency spiral tube heat exchangers (STHE) distributed by Nectis. This reduces heat consumption in fired heaters and decreases energy use in compressors and pumps thanks to its low-pressure drop. Additionally, in facilities with access to an electrical source, replacing process fired heaters with electric tubular radiant heaters from Heurtey Petrochem Solutions enables zero carbon emissions at unit level. [#AskAxens] What FCC and hydrotreater modifications are needed to increase refinery coprocessing of renewable feedstocks? Our expert Francy Barrios delved into this question in Digital Refining / PTQ Refining's latest Q&A edition. The renewable feeds available for co-processing in FCC units present some different properties and impurities compared to conventional feedstock that will have an impact on the operation, heat balance, catalyst activity and performances of the unit. This impact even will depend on the co-processing ratio. Different modifications in FCC units can be required to include or increase the co-processing of renewable feedstocks.
